Guest House Reviews

The Merlin Inn is a paradise within a paradise. The Inn is nestled behind gated walls with a tropical garden and palms. Visitors can choose from an Economy Queen room, King suite or private cottage. The Economy Queen is a cozy, rustic room for two featuring a queen-size bed, private bath with shower, cable TV, hairdryer, and alarm clock. The King Suite has a king size bed, the same amenities as the Economy plus a small refrigerator, sitting room and a porch or patio. The air-conditioned, two-bedroom cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, large dining and family room. Swim in the pool or lounge in one of the shaded hammocks. All guests enjoy a continental breakfast.

Key West boasts over 200 restaurants ranging from curbside stands to the ultimate in fine dining. The varied cuisine includes European, French, Italian and New Florida. Duval Street is the heart of nightlife with many bars open until four am. The mile and a half long street is brimming with restaurants, shops, galleries and pubs. Visit Sloppy Joe’s Bar, Ernest Hemingway’s favorite haunt. Key West waters offer a fisherman’s menu, deep sea, flats, channel fishing and spearfishing. There are approximately one hundred guides that specialize in these areas.

This place is great if you want to be in the quieter area of town. Not that it’s really needed, but the gated compound is a nice option to have and when traveling with family it is a nice security to have which most hotels do not. It also helps ensure the kids stay on the grounds and don’t wonder off. We have teenagers ourselves and though we usually get a single room with 2 beds, we rented the 2 bedroom cottage. It isn’t much more expensive than a standard and worth every penny for the privacy. The party scene is a few blocks away, which was ideal for noise levels and being close to the beach. I would stay here again.
